With the shorter days and longer nights in autumn and winter, nighttime travel safety issues are becoming increasingly prominent. Recently, education departments in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and other regions, in collaboration with traffic police, launched the "Light Up, Safer" public welfare campaign, distributing free reflective pendants to primary and secondary school students and encouraging them to wear them on backpacks, clothing, or bicycles to improve nighttime visibility.

According to traffic police, reflective pendants can be clearly identified from 100 meters away under headlights, effectively reducing the risk of traffic accidents. Pilot data shows a 43% year-on-year decrease in nighttime school-related accidents on roads around schools where the pendants were distributed. Some cities have even incorporated them into their "Safe Campus" development standards.

Traffic safety experts say, "Small pendants have a significant impact; they are a low-cost, high-efficiency passive safety measure." They urge more cities to promote their use, especially in rural and urban-rural fringe areas, to provide basic safety measures for children and the elderly.
