Technology empowers traditional products, giving reflective pendants a "smart upgrade." At the recent Beijing International Science and Technology Industry Expo, a "smart reflective pendant" garnered significant attention. Based on traditional reflective materials, this product integrates micro-GPS positioning, fall alarm, temperature sensing, and Bluetooth connectivity.
Reflective pendants are evolving from functional safety products to trendy cultural and creative items that combine practicality and aesthetics. Recently, the Palace Museum, the Sanxingdui Ruins, and the West Lake Scenic Area have all launched co-branded reflective pendants, incorporating cultural relics, regional elements, and luminous materials. These pendants serve as delicate ornaments by day and illuminate cultural heritage at night.
While improving safety, the indiscriminate use of reflective pendants has also created new challenges for urban management. Recently, cities like Chengdu and Guangzhou issued "Guidelines for Visual Management of Urban Public Spaces," explicitly prohibiting the unauthorized display of reflective pendants on public facilities such as streetlights, traffic signs, and trees to prevent them from affecting the cityscape, obstructing signage, or causing light interference.
With the shorter days and longer nights in autumn and winter, nighttime travel safety issues are becoming increasingly prominent. Recently, education departments in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and other regions, in collaboration with traffic police, launched the "Light Up, Safer" public welfare campaign, distributing free reflective pendants to primary and secondary school students and encouraging them to wear them on backpacks, clothing, or bicycles to improve nighttime visibility.
